IT Service

Presentation

IT Services at the UIC provides numerous computer and technology-related university services, from facilitating academic management to maintaining electronic library catalogues. It also grants universal access to scientific information networks worldwide.

Upon registering, students are given access to the UIC online network and assigned a corresponding e-mail address. Through this system, students can connect to the Internet through University facilities or personal computers by connecting at various points on the UIC campus. They may also consult the University intranet to find additional information on courses, academic activities and University services.

IT Services also maintains computer labs where students may take classes, do course work or participate in educational programmes coordinated by various University faculties.

Since 1997, UIC activities have been developed within an open-source technology framework.

This feature makes it a pioneering university with regard to free software and one of the first academic institutions to develop and provide alternative solutions to private applications, in both management and system access.

Along with its commitment to free software, Computer Services also provides free applications through open-software communities.
