The Cultural Getaways Group was created with the idea of organising tours aimed at giving participants a fresh look at art and culture: delving into the ancient Roman city of Barcino, strolling through the medieval Ciutat Vella, discovering Catalan modernism and much more. All the while guided by Judith Urbano, holder of a PhD in Art History and lecturer at UIC Barcelona.
With this group, we aim to satisfy the needs of anyone with an interest in culture and art who is looking to share knowledge. This activity is intended for staff members at UIC Barcelona and people directly related to them.
See below for more information about all Cultural Getaways Group activities:
Catalan Romanesque art at the MNAC
This time, the Cultural Getaways Group will pay a visit to the 11th and 12th-century Romanesque art collection, taking advantage of the fact that Catalonia is one of the richest territories in terms of mural paintings inside Romanesque churches, panel paintings, sculptures, etc. Examples of the works on display include the paintings from the churches of Sant Climent in Taüll and Sant Joan in Boí, as well as stone sculptures and wood carvings.
