Academic year 2012-2013: 4th edition
The UIC Master’s Degree in Arts and Cultural Management is an official postgraduate programme adapted to the guidelines of the European Higher Education Area and vouched by a thorough quality evaluation. The programme provides comprehensive instruction in the area of cultural management.
This Master’s Degree programme combines the theoretical reflection on the relations between culture and society and the role of the cultural manager, with a practical approach based on the experience of lecturers coming from many different areas of cultural management: public administration, private sector, cultural heritage and museums, performing arts, music, etc. The programme provides students with the tools they need to work in a wide range of areas within the world of culture.
This programme’s quality has been evaluated by the Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU Catalunya) and the Agencia Nacional de Evaluación de la Calidad y Acreditación (ANECA). Both are members of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and issue independent reports on curricula, lecturers and the organization and fulfillment of the programme’s objectives in accordance with rigorous international standards.
The UIC Master’s Degree has a total of 60 ECTS. This programme's specific elements are the balance between the theoretical and practical knowledge given by the different subjects, aimed at providing techniques and methods for managing culture, the syllabuses focused on management within the different industries and the strong emphasis on the development of an entrepreneurial spirit in the students.
There is an extensive work experience element, facilitated by the UIC, which can be carried out in institutions belonging to the different cultural industries, along with the creation of a cultural project.
The Master's Degree is divided into two groups: one of them has classes held entirely in English.
