Muscular Energy Technique (MET)

Presentation

The evolution of manual medicine has put tremendous emphasis on the skeletal and articular systems, leaving the muscular component somewhat unaddressed. Fred L. Mitchell developed the Muscular Energy Technique (MET).

MET is a manual therapy system for treating musculoskeletal injuries through musculature strength. It involves the voluntary contraction of the muscles in a controlled and precise direction with variable levels of intensity, and against resistance applied by the therapist.
