The first Bachelor’s Degree in Bioengineering with specialisations in dental prostheses and orthopaedic techniques for the locomotor apparatus
From September UIC Barcelona will offer a new Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, a degree programme which is both innovative and pioneering in Spain. In addition to the general degree programme, two specialisations are also available: a specialisation in dental prostheses and a specialisation in orthopaedic techniques for the locomotor apparatus.
The Bachelor’s Degree in Bioengineering is framed within a new scientific-technical sector that is of great socio-economic importance. It is a field of knowledge involving great professional demand due to an increase in life expectancy, which increases the need to substitute limbs or correct systems to optimise their functionality and improve quality of life for patients.
This new degree programmes is aimed at people with a vocation for service to society in the fields of health sciences, and, at the same time, interested in engineering and technology. The bachelor’s degree aims to prepare students at a technical, scientific and human level so they can identify the prosthetic and orthotic needs of patients and design solutions that provide a solution for them.
40 places will be available on the Bachelor’s Degree in Bioengineering programme and it will be taught on the Sant Cugat Healthcare Campus.
