SIFU Group, winner at the 1st UIC Barcelona Alumni Awards
Yesterday, the Aula Magna at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) played host to the inaugural edition of the Alumni Awards, held within the framework of the Annual Alumni Meeting. The award fell to alumnus Cristian Rovira, Business Administration and Management class of 2000, for his project SIFU Group.
The purpose of the Alumni Awards is to recognise a former student of the University who has led and put into action a transformative project. Transformative projects are taken to mean initiatives that, through their implementation, help improve society.
In the first edition, the winning project was SIFU Group, the brainchild of former Business Administration and Management student Cristian Rovira. SIFU is a project focused on employment and a leading provider of socially responsible facility services. It promotes the integration of people with disabilities and people at risk of social exclusion in the labour market, helping them find employment, a value that underpins and guides SIFU Group’s actions. Its mission is to work for and on behalf of such individuals and generate employment for people from this social collective.
The event also served to recognise the career and efforts of two other individuals and an institution. In this regard, acknowledgement went to Montserrat Trapé, lawyer and head of the Catalan office of KPMG. Trapé is a former UIC Barcelona student and was named best lawyer in Spain in 2017 by the magazine The Economist & Jurist. Tribute was also paid to Mariano Puig, president of the holding Exea Empresarial and the person at the helm of Puig, a company which operates under fashion and fragrances brands Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne, Jean Paul Gautier and Nina Ricci. Lastly, the ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation was recognised for its work in developing social, cultural, educational and research and knowledge-promotion programmes, the objective of which is to transform society.
The Annual Meeting included a round table discussion entitled “Digital Transformation: What’s next? Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things in Corporate Strategy”, which was moderated by Josep Salvatella, founder and CEO of Roca Salvatella. The table featured Raúl González, Marketing Strategist for Cellnex; Kiko Morer, CRM Senior Manager de Volkswagen Group Retail Spain; Pascual Boil, applications & innovation director at Cuatrecasas; and Frederic Llordachs, co-founder of Doctoralia.
The meeting ended with a cocktail enlivened by a performance by Jordi Caps, who agreed magic and technology.
