UIC Barcelona officially opened the extension of the Preclinical Laboratory in homage to Dr Miquel Cortada, the first Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry
UIC Barcelona this morning officially opened the extension of the Preclinical Laboratory and did so in homage to Dr Miquel Cortada, the first Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. The event began with a few words from Dr Cortada, whose name the Laboratory still bears today, and talks from Dr Xavier Gil, the Rector of UIC Barcelona, and Dr Lluís Giner, Dean of the Faculty. A plaque honouring Dr Cortada was also revealed during this event.
Dr Xavier Gil praised the ability of Dr Cortada to set up a prestigious faculty out of nothing and Dr Giner commented on the title chosen to pay tribute to him: the master of masters. He also told an anecdote from when the Faculty and the Clinic were initially being set up, while underlining the entrepreneurial attitude of Dr Cortada and stating that the following motto needed to continue to be one of the standards held up by the Faculty: “No boundaries or limitations exist”.
