Adela Clemente, Consul of Bulgaria and Member of the Academic and Social Council, Dies at 73

Adela Clemente de Pedret, the Consul of Bulgaria and an active member of the Academic and Social Council of the UIC, died in Barcelona on Tuesday, 22 June 2010, aged 73. The Rector, the University Board of Trustees and the entire university community would like to express their most heartfelt condolences to the family and to thank Adela Clemente publicly for her contribution to the institution.

Adela Clemente, an economist and businesswoman, contributed to the latest issue of the university magazine Newsuic with an article on university and young people in the 21st century, in which she defended and pledged her commitment to an excellent, accessible university with strong links to business.

As the Consul of Bulgaria, she arranged for Simeon II of Bulgaria to visit the UIC in April 2006 to close the 16th University Debate with a conference on Bulgaria's role in the construction of the European space for freedom and safety.
