Postgraduate Course in Informational Energetic Osteopathy. The Poyet Method.
Presentation
The Poyet Method’s
craniosacral therapy is one of many therapeutic procedures used in manual
therapy. As its approach to structural biomechanics and energetic foundations
are both influenced by Classical Osteopathy, this manual therapy falls
somewhere between Classical and Energetic Osteopathy, and is therefore enriched
and informed by both therapies.
The fundamental bases of
Sutherland’s cranial mechanics are essential to a general understanding of the
technique, as are several of Maurice Raymond Poyet’s discoveries, which may be
summed up in three innovative points:
- Gentle
and firm movements. Poyet wrote that
therapeutic movements should be as gentle as the touch of a butterfly, while
also being precise and deliberate.
- Craniosacral
concept. Unlike Sutherland, Poyet
established a craniosacral relationship in which the diagnostic is carried out
through the cranial “somatotopies,” sacral correction, and the possibility of
verifying cranial correction. Energy chains make the sacrum absolutely key to
this treatment.
- Diagnostic, evaluation, and whole-body treatment. Under
the premise that all belongs to one and one to all, Poyet argued that all parts
of our anatomy play an important role in achieving whole-body harmony. The
cranium cannot be corrected in a lasting or permanent way unless we correct
peripheral elements as well; the method thus teaches us about the movements
pertinent to each bone, or “motility”, and the relevant correction.
