GRC - Research Group in Sustainability and Comprehensive Education
GRC - Sustainability and Comprehensive Education
The Sustainability and Comprehensive Education research group undertakes scientific work in two main fields that are related to each other and analysed in terms of their implementation at the university.
Comprehensive Sustainability: through which the development of competences in sustainability and social responsibility in universities is promoted, as well as sustainable consumption. Sustainability is an element of interreligious and intercultural convergence.
Comprehensive education: this takes up the concept of comprehensive, inclusive and holistic education, and works on the following lines of research: digital competences; digital teaching competences and language competences.
For the promotion of comprehensive sustainability and comprehensive university education active, participatory and collaborative teaching methodologies are used, such as Service-Learning.
The group is linked to a previous research group in Sustainability and Social Responsibility (SIRSU), which was approved as a consolidated research group by AGAUR during the 2014-2016 call and contained researchers from the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Education. After winning public calls and doing research in the fields of education in terms of sustainable development and sustainability as an element of convergence between religions, that involved the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) from the 2030 United Nations Agenda based on a comprehensive approach to sustainability, the advantage of joining the GRADI research group was noted. This is because it undertakes research in the field of comprehensive education. The SIRSU and the SEI group are currently undertaking the following research project: A comprehensive plan for the incorporation of mathematical, scientific and language competences in early teacher training. It is part of the 2015 ARMIF call set up by the Catalan Generalitat.
