Introduction

This subject involves completing practical and real media industry jobs. This period of instruction will be assessed according to the objectives set by the academic coordinator, in accordance with the Faculty Board’s criteria.

This includes both traditional media (newspapers, radio, television or news agencies), as well as media companies from other sectors or realities (communication agencies, online publications, press or communication departments at businesses and corporations, among others).


Objectives

  • Students must successfully develop their ability to read, analyse and summarise, as well as the ability to give journalistic messages a creative twist through insight, ingenuity and creativity.

  • They must acquire the ability to work as part of a team, learn to act responsibly and independently and face challenges and solve problems with a positive and entrepreneurial spirit.

  • They must also develop the ability to interact with the media environment; plan, implement and prepare a budget for a journalistic project, in cooperation with various media professionals.

  • Another aspect that will be encouraged is the capacity to understand and apply the various journalistic genres and formats at different stages of the creation, edition and production of press, radio, television and online products. Students will also learn to use the different types of television and radio scripts and understand how to interact with the media environment and adapt to changing circumstances.

  • Students must develop the ability to detect newsworthy events, as well as the ability to act as an expert in the strategic management of corporate speech.

Teaching and learning activities

In person



Coaching. Monitoring how students learn the content of the subject, either individually or in groups. In the coaching sessions, the lecturers will correct mistakes, answer queries and suggest exercises and activities to achieve the established objectives. (5 ECTS)
