The correct diagnosis of the different periodontal pathologies and establishing a correct treatment plan appropriate to each pathology will be important objectives to be achieved by the student in the clinic.   The student will carry out the hygienic phase, periodontal surgery and maintenance, that each case requires. In the hygienic phase, the knowledge of scaling and root planing will be put into practice, as well as the use of the different universal, gracey and special curettes; as well as the sharpening of the curettes. With clinical practice, they will know the objectives of the hygienic phase and the importance of interrelation with the other areas of dentistry in this phase.   In the surgical phase, the clinical residency students will perform mainly resective and crown lengthening surgeries.   All treatments will be supervised at all times by the periodontics teachers.
