Objectives

Be proficient to know in depth the basic topics of Oral Implantology.

Be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the basics of oral implantology as the diagnosis, prognosis and the different phases of the oral implant treatment.

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

The student should be able to:

  1. Determine the evolution over the years about the use of dental implants.
  2. Learn basic terminology; meet the criteria for success and failure of a dental implant.
  3. Describe all stages of oseointegration and bone healing around dental implants
  4. Define all the structures that surround dental implant macroscopically and microscopically.
  5. Describe the microbial species that exists around the implants and compare it with human teeth.
  6. Learn different implant systems, different surface treatment of implants and its designs and its relationship to biomechanics.

1.      Implant designs and surface.

2.      Implant position.

3.      Immediate and delayed Loading.

4.      Prosthetic abutments and generalities.

5.      Prosthetic design.
