Introduction

It is important to get a deal of trust and collaboration with faculty, positive attitude and ability to work in teams, promote the importance of pediatric dentistry care, proper attitude to child patients to try and acquire professional ethics for the practice of this specialty .

On the other hand, we obtain the knowledge necessary to diagnose and propose a plan of treatment and preventive dentistry plan; Learn the techniques of conservative and surgical dental therapy in pediatric patients; Learn the techniques of handling child's behavior in the consultation; Know the principles governing the administration of drugs in pediatric dentistry, and indications and method of use; Knowing how to react to emergencies that may occur in pediatric patients, and how to act before the rest of situations that may occur in pediatric patients.

Pre-course requirements

There are no prerequisites.

Objectives

It is widely accepted that the oral health of infants, children and adolescents affects the overall health of the child population and in the future, in the adult population. Therefore, it is important that there are dentists prepared to prevent and solve the most common oral problems of the pediatric population.

The objective of this course is that students obtain advanced knowledge required for proper diagnosis and counseling of child terapética patient.

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

- Acquire the skills to perform dental treatment in a child patient with proper management of behavior.

- Learn to make good pain control during dental treatment in child patient.

- Get the knowledge necessary to make a correct diagnosis and know how to choose the ideal material as appropriate.

- Learn knowledge necessary to carry out a correct diagnosis and subsequent treatment pulp den dentition.

- Learn knowledge necessary to carry out a correct diagnosis and subsequent treatment pulp den permanent dentition.

- Learn the skills needed for diagnosis and treatment in cases of dental trauma in primary teeth.

- Learn the skills needed for diagnosis and treatment in cases of dental trauma in permanent dentition.

Learning outcomes of the subject

- Students will be able to perform dental treatment in pediatric patients with proper management of pain and behavior.

- The student will know diagnose oral and dental disease that can present the child patient.

- The student will obtain the knowledge needed to know how to diagnose and treat any type of dental trauma, either permanent dentition.

- The student will obtain the knowledge needed to know how to diagnose and treat pulp pathology, either permanent dentition.

  • Introduction to dentistry.
  • Growth and development of occlusion.
  • Control of behavior in pediatric dentistry.
  • Anesthetic techniques.
  • Pathology and dental therapy in the child patient.
  • Pulp therapy and young permanent dentition .
  • Endodontics in permanent dentition.
  • Trauma in young permanent dentition.

Theoretical exam: 70% of the global result.
Practical exam: 30% of the global result.
