The students will be able to contact the professors preferably before the beginning of the classes (previous appointment through e-mail) or at the end of the classes.

Introduction

The Theoretical Module Nursing Care Processes in Anesthesia, Resuscitation and Pain Therapies aims to provide the theoretical tools to respond to the extraordinary evolution of anesthesia and reanimation that in recent years have made the surgical area a place within the hospital of a complexity that requires a significant degree of specialization, which requires motivated nursing professionals to work in this field the need to enjoy solid and specific training to carry out daily tasks within this hospital service with leadership, competence and professionalism , always training the student to provide comprehensive care to the person. Specifically, this module aims to train the student in the different types and techniques of anesthesia; Anesthesia in the different surgical specialties; Complications in anesthesia; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; pain control and Safety and Quality in the operating room.

Pre-course requirements

It is required to have a Nursing Degree or Diploma and to be registered.

• Know Anesthesia in the different surgical specialties; Complications in anesthesia;
• Know cardiopulmonary resuscitation; pain control and Safety and Quality in the operating room.

Learning outcomes of the subject

• Provide a quality service in the Surgical Block with efficiency and effectiveness, forming part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Apply the knowledge acquired in the instrumentation of the different surgical specialties, to correctly develop professional competence.
• Provide moral and psychological support to the patient in the preoperative period.
• Act safely and efficiently in the role of anesthesia and resuscitation nurse, detecting possible complications in the transoperative and immediate postoperative periods.
• Develop the task of perioperative nurse with an ethical and human sense, which makes it possible to incorporate good professionals who are experts in the surgical area into hospitals.

• Nursing work in intubation and CPR
• Nursing care in Anesthesia: Pediatric, OFT, CMF, ENT and Plastic, Gynecology, Urology and COT, Thoracic, Cardiac and Vascular, Neurosurgery
• Immediate post-surgical resuscitation and anesthetic complications
• Anesthesia, pain control
• Pain therapy unit

Teaching and learning activities

Theoretical sessions (using multimedia technology): 1. Lecture: introducing the student to the subject to be dealt with in order to later specify the repercussion in daily practice; 2. Practical workshops accompanied by specific material; 3. Use of audiovisual media.

The evaluation will have several aspects:

1. Method of continuous evaluation in order to correct and exceed the expected levels of learning for each student, as well as the rate of acquisition of knowledge and skills.
