Introduction

The Theoretical Module Surgical Nursing Care Processes of the Different Specialties aims to provide the theoretical tools to respond to the extraordinary evolution of surgery in recent years that have made the surgical area a place within the hospital of a complexity that requires a significant degree of specialization, which forces the nursing professionals motivated to work in this field the need to enjoy a solid and specific training to develop with leadership, competence and professionalism the daily tasks within this hospital service, always training the student to perform a comprehensive care for the person. Specifically, this module aims to place nursing in the surgical process in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative periods; know the nursing care in the surgical process of the different specialties and the psychosocial aspects of the surgical patient

Pre-course requirements

It is required to have a Nursing Degree or Diploma and to be registered.

• Know the nurse's role in the surgical process in the preoperative, transoperative and postoperative periods;
• Know the nursing care in the surgical process of the different specialties.
• Recognize and know how to treat the psychosocial aspects of the surgical patient

Learning outcomes of the subject

• Provide a quality service in the Surgical Block with efficiency and effectiveness, forming part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Be aware of those pathologies that subject the patient to surgery and anesthesia
• Act safely and efficiently in the role of anesthesia and resuscitation nurse, detecting possible complications in the immediate transoperative and postoperative periods.
• Initiate the aspects of nursing research in problems specific to the surgical block.
• Develop the task of a perioperative nurse with an ethical and human sense, which makes possible the incorporation in hospitals of good professionals who are experts in the surgical area.
