Demographic projections for the coming years speak of an aging population with more chronic medical pathologies. The social reality is causing a considerable number of people with special needs, frail elderly or with important chronic pathologies to live in residences or specific centers. These patients require dental care that goes beyond the usual and occasional care function, encompassing concepts of prevention and incorporating differentiated equipment and work techniques. Theoretical knowledge of systemic diseases, their influence on the dental situation, mucosal lesions and treatment techniques applied to the elderly are of paramount importance for the Clinical Residency.
