Introduction

In the event that the health authorities announce a new period of confinement due to the evolution of the health crisis caused by COVID-19, the teaching staff will promptly communicate how this may effect the teaching methodologies and activities as well as the assessment.


The subject History of thought proposes an approach to the currents of ideas that have developed in Europe, from the origins in ancient Greece to the present day. The foundations of disciplines such as anthropology, psychology and sociology will be approached from original texts and audiovisual material related to the topics discussed, in the line of the Anthropology of the Audiovisual Image proposed by Julián Marías, all with the objective to encourage creativity and personal reflection of the student.

Objectives

The objective of History of Thought for students is to acquire a practical and theoretical training that allows them to know the most important philosophical and scientific ideas in order to understand and judge current movements of ideas.

Learning outcomes of the subject

At the end of the semester, students of the subject History of Thought will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge: • Ability to apply the knowledge acquired in the subjects of philosophy of the image, anthropology and content analysis (4 hours). • Ability to design and carry out interpretation and criticism models, as well as to analyze and interpret data (4 hours). • Ability to design content for an advertising campaign and meet the needs with real limitations, such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, promotion and sustainability (4 hours). • Ability to interact in multidisciplinary teams (2 hours). • Ability to identify, formulate and solve problems of interpretation of content of advertising products (4 hours). • Understanding of ethical and professional responsibility (4 hours). • Ability to communicate effectively (4 hours). • General education necessary to understand the impact of advertising content in a global, economic, human and social context (4 hours). • Recognition of the need and ability to participate in permanent continuous learning (2 hours). • Knowledge of contemporary problems (4 hours). • Ability to use modern techniques, skills and tools for creating and analyzing advertising content (4 hours).

Teaching and learning activities

Master Classes in Streaming. In the master classes, the teacher not only transmits content or knowledge, but also, and above all, attitudes, motivation, skills, values, etc. It also makes it easier for attendees to express their opinions and arguments in front of the rest of the students. Coaching. Monitoring, individually or in very small groups, of how students assimilate the contents of the subject. In the coaching sessions, defects will be corrected, doubts will be clarified, exercises and activities necessary to achieve the set objectives will be proposed. E-learning. Non-classroom learning based on ICT will be facilitated. Focused Praxis. Periodic delivery of exercises to learn theory through practice. Each exercise will be aimed at acquiring highly defined knowledge adapted to the circumstances. Meeting Point. Meeting points will be organized between personalities from the professional, scientific, international world, etc. and the students. They will be given the form of a conference, work session, gathering, interview, etc.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In blended



Following the continuous assessment model, the student will answer a questionnaire about each of the sessions (40%). At the end of the course, there will be a multiple choice written test on some of the topics proposed in the program (60%). For the second call, the student who has not passed the exam must pass a written test similar to that of the first call.
