Professional experience
Ph.D: Full-time Senior Scientist Researcher at CIBERNED/ Associate Professor at UAB
I am currently a Postdoctoral Scientist at Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red – Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIBERNED), Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department (Neurosciences Institute - Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) under the supervision of Dr. José Rodríguez-Álvarez.
We are interested in the molecular events that are responsible for the decrease in glutamatergic neurotransmission elicited by amyloid-beta. Particularly in the relationship between oligomer forms of amyloid-beta, alteration in synaptic glutamatergic receptors and early cognitive deficits related to Alzheimer’s disease.
The goals of my present research are:
(1) To characterize the molecular mechanisms underlying amyloid-beta oligomers-dependent synaptic depression using molecular and cell biological approaches.
(2) To analyze the regulation of synaptic proteins in response to synaptic stimuli under amyloid-beta depression conditions using imaging techniques and replacement technology.
(3) To implement the molecular replacement technology using stereotaxic injections in vivo in a mouse model of Alzheimer Disease.
(4) To find out new biomarkers related with early diagnostic in Alzheimer’s disease.
Specialties: Neuronal primary cultures, cell biological approaches at synaptic level, classical biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, molecular replacement strategies, neuroplasticity and neuromodulation, confocal imaging.
