Education

Miguel Alsina Casanova has a Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona (2009). He completed the Residency in Pediatrics and Specific Areas at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona (2010-2014) and in Neonatology at the same center (2014-2016). He holds a PhD in Medicine and Traslational Research (2018).

Professional experience

Miguel is an Assistant Professor at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya. He is accredited as a Lecturer Professor by the Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU). He has more than 7 years of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience. He was a professor at the Academy of MIR Studies (AMIR) for more than 5 years. Presently, he works as an Assistant Pediatrician at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona. His research focuses on neonatal oxygenation: perinatal asphyxia, transfusion of allogeneic blood from umbilical cord donors and monitoring of tissue oxygenation using near-infrared light. He has more than 20 indexed scientific publications, is principal investigator in several funded projects, and has made multiple communications at national and international level.
