Introduction

The course consists of the fulfillment of practical and real jobs in the sector of the media. This period of training works according to the objectives set by the coordinator based on the criteria of the directorate.

This includes both traditional media (newspapers, radio, television or news agencies), as media companies from other sectors or realities (communication agencies, newspaper and Internet projects, press departments or communication of businesses and corporations, among others).

Objectives

  • The student must successfully develop reading, analysis and synthesis skills as well as the ability to provide creative messages using journalistic insight, ingenuity and creativity.
  • You must acquire the ability to work in teams and learn to act responsibly and independently, and confront challenges and solve problems in a positive and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • You will also develop the ability to interact with the environment; planning, implementation and budgeting for a journalism project, working with the different agents of the profession.
  • You will boost the capacity to understand and apply the various journalistic genres and formats at different stages of creating, editing, production and realization of press, radio, television and Internet. You will also learn to use the different types of television and radio scripts, knowing how to interact with the environment and adapting to changing circumstances.
  • The student must develop the ability to detect news events, as well as the ability to act as an expert on the strategic management of corporate speech.

They vary depending on the company in which the student will perform his work.

Teaching and learning activities

In person

  1. For each of the placements made by the students an agreement must be signed. Without it you can not start the internship.
  2. Once the student and the company have agreed to the terms of the practices, the company must complete the draft of the Annex of the Convention.
  3. The internship coordinator and the faculty secretary look for the Convention to be performed.
  4. When the agreement is prepared (within a aprox. period of one week), the secretary will contact the student to collect it. Each student will be given three copies that must be signed by the company at the beginning of the practices. Of these three copies, one is for the company, one for the student and the third goes back to the Faculty. Therefore, this third copy should be returned promptly to the Secretary of the Faculty.
  5. If the secretary does not have the copy of the agreement belonging to the Faculty, practices can not be validated and won't be fulfilled.
TRAINING ACTIVITYECTS CREDITS
Coaching. Monitoring how students learn the content of the subject, either individually or in groups. In the coaching sessions, mistakes will be corrected, queries answered, and exercises and activities to achieve the established objectives will be suggested.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person

  • The practices can be made on weekdays or weekends. However, depending on the student's work, these conditions may vary.
  • The schedule and duration of the internship will depend on the needs of each company and will be agreed with the student. Usually, they are carried out in a period of approximately 3 months. The student must take a minimum of 150 hours and will be implemented in accordance with the requests of each company.
  • All students who take the curricular practices must submit a report (see model in "materials") which can include a dossier of content made while in the company.
  • The evaluation of the subject is: 80% personal tutor of the company and 20% the report. Upon completion of the internship, the student has 15 days to provide each document.
