Introduction

The subject of Photojournalism aims to make an approximation of photographical journalism as a media phenomenon and as an element of understanding, to be able to equip students with specific skills to solve, assess and use journalistic images. 

 

Objectives

-   Knowledge and interpretation of journalistic photography as an element of understanding and interpretation of reality.

-   To tell a story in images

-   Basic photographical technique learning.

-   Know the main photographical historic moments related to documentalism and photojournalism.

-   Photographical analysis applied to press and the professional procedures of planning, production and edition.

-   Sufficient criteria to evaluate and use photojournalism images

-   Seek, choose, and rank useful sources and documents to develop photojournalistic products.

-   Use social responsible criteria in the different processes of production.

Teaching and learning activities

In person

The subject’s structure combines theory and practical activities. Therefore, the subject will consist of a combination of lecture and practical sessions where student’s work (individual and in group) will be analysed. It will be very important for class dynamics that students take active part in it.

*Practical work will be structured based on camera availability.
