Introduction

The Final Degree Project (FDP) is the realization of a professional project of journalistic information. 

The FDP is the result of the work of a team of 3-5 members, who receive guidance from the tutor assigned by the Faculty to each group, based on the characteristics of their project.

Learning outcomes of the subject

  • They will work with ease and professionalism in a radio studio and a TV studio.
  • They will handle fluently video editing software, audio, web pages and graphics editing.
  • They will know the resources needed in a radio or television.
  • They will develop journalistic or Internet communication projects.
  • They will know how to use graphic resources in journalism or communication projects.
  • They will be able to design radio or television programs according to a typology, and yet be consistent with the structural reality of the sector.

Syllabus

  • The PFG will be divided into two phases: 6 ECTS that must be overcome in the first half, as part of the subject Design of Journalistic Projects; 6 ECTS in the second half, as part of the subject Final Degree Project.
  • At the end of the subject Design of Journalistic Projects the students must submit a written work, including the results of the documentation process carried out for:
  1. Justify and develop the journalistic content to be distributed across each product: relevance of the chosen theme, fonts to use, that aims to satisfy needs, approach to be adopted...
  2. Analyze the market in which the journalistic product is positioned and the audience it targets.
  3. Define the business model that will ensure the viability of the product.
  4. Planning a promotional strategy and product distribution.
  • During the second semester, students will develop the final product under the supervision of the tutors of each project.
  • At the end of the second semester, students will submit the final product and defend it.

Coaching. Monitoring how students learn the content of the subject, either individually or in groups. In the coaching sessions, mistakes will be corrected, queries answered, and exercises and activities to achieve the established objectives will be suggested.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person

  • The evaluation of the written work will be conducted within the framework of the subject Journalistic Projects Design. Professors teaching this course will establish the evaluation criteria. 
  • In the event that a group fails this subject, will be submitted to the second edition of this course, a month after the first convened.
  • The note of FDP is the sum of the following percentages:
  1. Individual Note established by the tutor of each FDP for each of the team members: 50%.
  2. Overall Rating of FDP established by the board members: 50%.
  • In the assessment by the court both the final product as the research dossier will be considered and evaluated:
  1. The professional quality of the project and the work done by the team at all stages of preparation and presentation.
  2. The journalistic quality: content value, contrast of sources, contextualization of information, news, social relevance and adaptability to the needs of the audience to which it is addressed.
  3. The economic, legal and professional viability.
