Application for approval or recognition (form attached).
Applicant’s certificate of citizenship issued by the appropriate authorities, or a certified photocopy of the applicant’s passport or Spanish residency permit, or, for Spanish nationals, a certified photocopy of your DNI (national identity document).
Diploma or official certificate for which approval is sought or, where applicable, official certification accrediting satisfactory marks on corresponding final examinations.
Official academic certificate accrediting satisfactory performance in courses taken, listing in full the subjects studied and the academic years to which their study corresponds.
Certification of payment of corresponding fees (article 28 of Law 53/2002 of 30 December, on Tax, Administrative, and Social Measures, BOE of 31 December 2002), except in cases in which the requested approval refers to a diploma of secondary education.
In addition to abovementioned documents, certain circumstances may require the following complementary materials:
When prior studies abroad have been completed in accordance with the Spanish education system, an official academic certificate accrediting this compliance, or a certified copy of the grade book or register.
When the approval or recognition refers to studies completed in Spain in the areas of Professional Training or Special Education programmes, applicants must also provide proof of:
The academic prerequisites required by the relevant education system prior to enrolment in the studies whose approval or recognition is sought, as well as the studies effectively completed by the applicant.
The official duration of the study programme followed, as well as the course load of each subject studied.
The completion of professional internships or work experience, where applicable.
In all cases, the governing body may request other documents as it deems necessary to grant equivalence between studies completed abroad and the Spanish degree to which they may correspond.
All documents may be accredited through certified copy, by presenting the photocopy, together with the original copy of document to which it corresponds, to the registry office where the application is submitted. The office can certify the copy and keep it with other application materials on file, returning the originals duly to the applicant.
All documents presented for these procedures must be officially issued by the relevant authorities, in accordance with the legal requirements enforced by the corresponding country.
More information is available on the web, at the MEC homepage.
When you submit your application, the Ministry or Embassy will give you a Permission Slip for Conditional Registration at Education Centres or for Official Exams which you must present to the University when you enrol.
