Academic and scientific event where the Body Donation Service of the University presents some advances that have been achieved thanks to the donation of the body.
 
The day will include anatomical updating conferences given by professionals in areas such as physiotherapy, traumatology, anatomy and ophthalmology.

9.30 a.m. Welcome to the 3rd Thanksgiving Event for Body Donors - Dr Albert Balaguer, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
 
9.40 a.m. Presentation of the event and speakers - Dr Albert Pérez-Bellmunt. Lecturer and researcher in anatomy at UIC Barcelona. Head of the Body Donation Service and Anatomy Laboratory at UIC Barcelona.
 
9.45 a.m. “Effect of electostimulation on hamstring flexibility” - Paul Fauris, physiotherapy student and anatomy resident.
 
10.00 a.m. “This year’s developments in anatomy: From the anatomical laboratory to rehabilitation” - Dr Carlos López de Celis, lecturer and researcher in the Department of Physiotherapy at UIC Barcelona.
 
10.35 a.m. “Were the Romans’ hips like ours? An anatomical-anthropological study”- Dr Robert Seijas, traumatologist and researcher at the García-Cugat Foundation and Hospital Quirón. Lecturer in anatomy at UIC Barcelona.
 
11.10 a.m. “Importance of eye donation: Developments in ocular surgery thanks to body donation” - Dr José Lamarca, ophthalmologist at the Barraquer Centre and general coordinator of the Barraquer University Institute. Lecturer and researcher at UIC Barcelona.
 
12.00 p.m. “Anatomical study of the lingula: From the anatomical laboratory to the dentistry clinic” - Dr Hèctor Parellada, lecturer and researcher in anatomy at UIC Barcelona.
 
12.15 p.m. “Dissection as the new teaching tool for the 21st century” - Dr Guillermo Rocafort, lecturer and researcher in anatomy at UIC Barcelona.
 
12.30 p.m.  Closing talk: “The wonder of the human hand” - Dr Xavier Escribano, lecturer and researcher in humanities at UIC Barcelona.
 

1.00 p.m.Summary of the 2017-2018 academic year by Dr Pedro Álvarez, traumatologist and researcher at the García-Cugat Foundation and Hospital Quirón. Lecturer in anatomy and head of the Anatomy Unit at UIC Barcelona.
