PhD Workshop in Business & Management

Who is it for?

The PhD Workshop in Business & Management is an event for all PhD students in the fields of business and management. This workshop is intended to create a special space in which PhD students can develop academically, learn from other like-minded students and expand their network by contacting renowned professors in their disciplines. The workshop is organised in different sessions, including keynote lectures, panel discussions, parallel sessions and workshops. The event will be held entirely in English.

Description of the sessions

The workshop will be held entirely in English.

Parallel sessions

During parallel sessions each presenter will have 10-15 minutes to present their work. Then, a discussant (another PhD student) will provide some feedback for the next 5-10 minutes. The chair of the session will then discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both the paper presented and the review.

By mid-May participants will receive a paper to discuss. They will have to write a constructive critique of another participants’ work.

The submission process consists of three-steps:

1) Initial submission (deadline: 23 April)

PhD students willing to attend the workshop can do so by submitting their proposals via the following link and attach an academic paper that is related to or part of your thesis (it can be a work-in-progress). Fill in the Initial submission form

The recommended length is 6.000-8.000 words. It is compulsory to use this template paper UIC when writing the paper.

A maximum of 28 PhD students will be selected, based on the quality of the work presented.

The selected students will be notified on May 7.

2) Registration: Participants and other assistants (deadline: 14 May)

Registration for the workshop costs 40 euros. This fee includes access to all sessions and materials. EDOC Activities | Universitat Internacional de Catalunya

  1. If you are one of the selected doctoral students, you can register as PhD participant (Attendees will receive a certificate proving their active participation in the workshop)
  2. If you do not have any paper to present, but you are interested in meeting other students and listening to the workshop presentations (including tips and advice from editors/ professors), you can also register as Other assistants

3) Review submission (if you participate as a presenter) (deadline: 28 May)

Once you are registered, in order to finalise your submission, fill in the Review report submission form and you will have to upload the review report for the paper you have been assigned. It is compulsory to use this template review report when writing the paper.
