XI Curs Teòric-Pràctic de Microcargols
Micro-screws are a common element of bone anchorage in modern orthodontics. Their clinical application, in situations involving anchorage loss or orthodontic movements in which conventional anchorage is ineffective, has constituted a major step forward for our profession. As a result, it is extremely important to have knowledge of the fundamental aspects of micro-screws and their use in clinical practice.
- Theoretical part: biological bases, anatomy applied to placement, types of micro-screws, indications for use and biomechanical bases applied to placement and use.
- Practical part: micro-screw placement based on example cases, with the help of experienced supervisors.

This course provides the theoretical and practical background necessary to begin using or optimise the use of micro-screws in clinical practice.
This course is intended for all Dentistry professionals: general dentists, orthodontists, periodontologists and maxillofacial surgeons.

- Description of micro-screws and primary stability.
- Anatomy and insertion protocol.
Indications and literature review
- Handling and clinical applications of micro-screws. Protocol. Biomechanics
- Two decades with micro-screws.
- Micro-screws in the tuberosity.
- Case studies and clinical situations involving micro-screws.
- Pre-prosthetic indications for micro-screws.
- Vertical changes and indications.
- Sagittal changes with micro-screws.
- Transversal changes.
We will create two practice groups, which will switch later on.
Seminar on diagnosis, bone anchorage planning and mechanics. Simulation on typodonts.
- Presentation of the case.

- Placement simulation with typodonts.
- Resolution of cases.
Use of micro-screws on lamb's heads
- Material preparation protocol.
- Handling of manual and rotary instruments.
- Practice with the movements:
- Parallel to roots.
- Between roots.
- On palatal suture.
- On jaw. Retromolar space and external oblique ridge.
- On tuberosity.

- To be a general dentist, orthodontist, periodontologist or maxillofacial surgeon.
