Admission Criteria

It is required, according to the provisions of article 16 of RD 861/2010, to be in possession of the official Spanish university degree, bachelor's, diploma, engineer or architect or any other issued by a higher education institution belonging to a Member State of the European Higher Education Area that authorises for the access to a master's degree.

The entrance exams consist of a weighted assessment of the following documents:

Once the admission process has ended, the Information and Admissions Service, responsible for managing the tests, will communicate the result to each candidate.

In addition to the basic degree criteria, specific percentages for the different actions carried out will be established in order to more objectively set the criteria for selecting candidates:

  1. Academic record of the certified programmes that allows for enrolment; this record will be weighted according to the average grade of the university where the degree was obtained (25%).
  2. Personal interview conducted by the programme management (25%).
  3. University academic training complementary to the degree that allows access to the master's degree, with greater valuation when such training is related to the contents of the master's degree (15%).
  4. Work experience in the fields related to the subject matter of the master's degree and certified by the companies where the candidate had or currently is working (15%).
  5. Certified experience in research at a university centre or in any other type of public or private entity, with special relevance for scientific production (10%).
  6. Letters of recommendation (2) issued by academic professionals or professionals duly identified (10%).

Admissions reserves 70% of the places for graduates of Spanish universities. The remaining 30% of places is reserved for foreign students (i.e., students from the European Higher Education Area, EHEA, with a bachelor's degree and also those graduates from educational systems outside the EHEA who do not need recognition of the degree as equivalent after the relevant checks that prove training similar to that carried out in undergraduate studies in Spain and that said degree allows students to carry out postgraduate studies in the country of origin), Exceptionally, once the registration period for the master's degree has ended and always in the event that the offer of places is higher than the demand obtained, admission or not of students who do not meet the minimum requirements for admission set out in this point may be studied, provided that it is conditional on the candidate meeting these requirements by the time the master's degree begins.

Both pre-registration and registration will be carried out virtually. The master’s degree director and coordinator are the body responsible for admission to the degree programme.

Reservation and enrolment

Candidates who have been accepted into a master's or postgraduate degree programme will receive an acceptance letter that is contingent on payment of the reservation fee.

  1. Place reservation is made effective by payment of the amount specified for the respective programme, within five business days of receipt of the admission acceptance letter.
  2. Once a place has been officially reserved, if a student fails to meet, according to state or autonomous community legislation in force at all times, the requirements for admission to the degree course; does not hold the required qualification required; or students are not enrolled due to insufficient registration, UIC will reimburse the full amount of the reservation fee.
  3. If the student withdraws from the course for any reason, UIC Barcelona will withhold the reservation fee in its entirety with no obligation to reimburse the amount, as compensation for any damages or losses incurred.
  4. It will be understood that non-payment of the reservation fee means the student forfeits their place, and thereby allows UIC Barcelona to cancel and void the application submitted for a place.
