Presentation

Introduction

Football is at present the most widely practised sport in the world. In recent decades, there has been a substantial increase in terms of both the number of players and the injuries that occur.

In our region, Catalonia, there are roughly 150,000 federation members and approximately 26,000 injuries occur each year.

The injuries that occur in football are unique in terms of their presentation, treatment and recovery. As a result, the basic training received by traumatologists and sports doctors is insufficient when it comes to comprehensively treating this kind of injury.
