Micro-screws are a common element of bone anchorage in modern orthodontics. Their clinical application, in situations involving anchorage loss or orthodontic movements in which conventional anchorage is ineffective, has constituted a major step forward for our profession. As a result, it is extremely important to have knowledge of the fundamental aspects of micro-screws and their use in clinical practice.

Course objectives

Theoretical part: biological bases, anatomy applied to placement, types of micro-screws, indications for use and biomechanical bases applied to placement and use.

Competences to be acquired by students

This course provides the theoretical background necessary to begin using or optimise the use of micro-screws in clinical practice.

Prospective students

This course is intended for all Dentistry professionals: general dentists, orthodontists, periodontologists and maxillofacial surgeons.
