Based on the motto “If you study, you are cooperating”, over a period of a month 316 students from UIC Barcelona contributed more than 4.223 hours of study for solidarity towards the reconstruction of three schools in the Ecuadorian province of Manabí, the area most affected by the large earthquake last April. The earthquake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale.

UIC Barcelona has been participating in the Study Aid Olympics for the past 6 years in the libraries located on our Barcelona campus and our Sant Cugat campus. The initiative was originally set up by Coopera ONGD. For every hour of work or study that students register for in the rooms or libraries set up for solidarity, sponsoring companies and institutions provide 1 euro to help fund educational projects. The Study Aid Olympics took place between 5 November and 5 December this year.
