This programme seeks to strengthen the mobility and exchange of young university researchers and teachers and PhD students with universities and research centres in Latin America, in order to promote the updating of the level of knowledge of the participants, the learning of new techniques and methods and the consolidating of academic links.
A total of 100 scholarships are offered to Spanish universities, of which one scholarship has been granted to the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.
Characteristics of the scholarship
The scholarship is given to spend a period of time at any research centre or university outside the country of origin, to finance travel and board and lodging. The minimum required stay is 2 months for teachers and researchers and 4 months for doctoral students.
The amount of financing per scholarship for 5,000 Euro, with priority given to applicants who are 35 years old or younger.
The stay at the research centre or university must be completed before 30 June 2021.
Specific UIC Barcelona requirements
Teaching and research staff (PhD): preferably under 35 years old, and must be bound by contract to the university (under contract during the period in which the research stay is carried out). Form part of a SGR 2017-2019 research group.
How to apply
Candidates must register in advance on the website to apply. From 4 November 2019 to 16 March 2020, inclusive.
In addition to registering on the scholarships website, candidates must send the following documents to the UIC via the online form, no later than 16 March.
Acceptance of the host research centre/university.
The Office of the Vice-Rector for Research will be responsible for managing the applications for the scholarships assigned and the decision of award to the beneficiary.
The applications will be prioritised based on these aspects:
Merits in research (Sexenios) and Accreditations (30%)
Supervision of PhD theses (20%)
Competitive research projects (30%)
Only merits entered in DRAC before 16 March 2020 will be considered.
Decision and acceptance of the scholarship
The Vice-Rectorate for Research will make a proposal for a decision which will be published on the UIC website. The award of the scholarship will be before 15 April 2020 from the end date for the submission of applications.
The scholarship must be accepted before 26 April 2020.
The payment of the scholarship to the beneficiary shall be by the UIC via bank transfer to an account opened in the name of the beneficiary at a branch of Banco de Santander, once the beneficiary has started by the host university and no earlier.
The chosen beneficiaries are obliged to take out a special insurance for the duration of the scholarship, which shall include the following minimum coverages:
Death or permanent disability due to accident
Transportation or repatriation of deceased, injured or ill persons.
Medical and surgical expenses, hospitalisation for illness or accident
Private civil liability insurance
The beneficiary must submit a copy of the insurance policy they have taken out to the Vice-Rectorate for Research, before they go away.
At the end of research stay, beneficiary you must submit a brief report of the project carried out according to the template provided, as well as a certificate from the host institution or centre.
