GRPC - Research Group in Prevention and Treatment of Oral Peri-implantitis

The Prevention and Treatment of Oral Peri-implantitis group currently consists of 5 accredited lecturers and one lecturer undertaking their doctoral thesis, all of whom are specialised in periodontology and dental implants, recognised opinion leaders, and national and international conference speakers. Many of them also have 1st quartile JCR articles published on these topics.

By undertaking different teaching and research activities in the Department of Periodontology at UIC Barcelona, the members of this group have been able to develop and acquire the competences that are necessary in order to be able to comply with the scientific and transfer of knowledge objectives established by this group.

The main scientific objective of the group is to develop new surgical techniques and apply biomaterials (used both for bone regeneration and as antiseptics) to prevent and treat oral peri-implantitis.  These objectives include:

  1. Specific objectives linked to the development of new surgical techniques and the application of biomaterials to bone regeneration for oral implantology.
  2. Specific objectives linked to the development of antimicrobial chemical agents for oral implantology.
