HRS4R at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya

In October 2016, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya signed the "European Charter for Researchers" and the "Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers" with the aim of encouraging and improving the recruitment of researchers and demonstrating its commitment to this European Commission initiative.

 In line with European recommendations and in order to define its "Human Resources Strategy for Researchers" (HRS4R), UIC Barcelona created two groups. The first was the Working Group, responsible for implementing the process, undertaking a Gap Analysis and putting forward an Action Plan and the second was the Steering Committee, responsible for supervising the process and completing the details of the Action Plan according to the UIC Barcelona Human Resources policy.

Implementing the HRS4R process involved going through the following phases:

  • March-April 2017. Analysis of the process and its applicability 
  • May 2017. Appointment of the Steering Committee.
  • September 2017. Appointment of the Working Group.
  • September 2017. Preparation of the survey and internal analysis.
  • October-November 2017. Gap Analysis undertaken.
  • January 2018. Actions prioritised and approval of the Action Plan by the Steering Committee.
  • March 2018. Publication of the Gap Analysis and the Action Plan on the university website.

In May 2018, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya was recognised by the European Comission with the HR Excellence in Research Award. This logo reflects the institution’s commitment to continually improving its human resources strategies and aligning them with the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, implementing these principles to ensure an attractive research environment.
