The UIC Barcelona Emerging Research Group on Health Education is organising events with various teaching sessions over 2 days, the main objective of which is to share experiences of teaching methodology and teaching research. For our next event, in May, we have invited a professor from the Nursing Sciences department in the University of Turku (Finland), who is an expert in health education, educational competences and teacher training, as well as teaching methodologies and the learning results of nursing and healthcare teaching.
At the same time, we aim to share the experiences of our emerging research group in Health Education, where we will tackle issues such as teaching methodologies for Shared Leadership, blended learning instead of on-site learning on BLS, methodologies to improve clinical safety in terms of the calculation of medication, instruments to evaluate the research competences of students, blended learning in technical abilities, etc.
The Teaching Sessions by the UIC Barcelona Emerging Research Group on Health Education has two main cornerstones:
- Health Education, aimed at improving knowledge about health and its determining factors among the population and equipping future professionals to teach in the area of health
- Education in Health Sciences, aimed at improving training for future healthcare professionals (nurses, doctors, healthcare professionals) so that they can achieve professional excellence both in terms of their technical abilities and their interpersonal skills (leadership, teamwork, communication and emotional intelligence) self-management, prioritising and decision-making.
