The 6th edition of the workshop on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for teachers is an initiative offered by the Department of Nursing in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UIC Barcelona. It is offered to baccalaureate and vocational teachers in Catalonia only, in order to raise awareness of the importance and significance of prevention and quick action in these cases. This is an innovative activity since the students who are doing a Bachelor's degree in Nursing will carry out this activity themselves, with help from their work experience tutors.
In Spain a person’s heart stops every 20 minutes. What is done in the first five minutes is fundamental both in terms of reducing mortality and minimising the damage caused.
The activity consists of two workshops.
- A CPR workshop. Nursing students will teach the teachers how to undertake cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- A first aid workshop
