Introduction

The course allows students to carry out their Final Degree Thesis under the guidance of their tutor and with the support of the coordinator of this course.

In the contemporary world, research activity is not limited only to the research area of the University, but also constitutes a field of professional application of great strategic importance both in the public administration and in private business. From the point of view of the Humanities, research is a line of action that energises the work of organisations as diverse as archives, libraries, museums and centres for the interpretation of heritage, educational and cultural institutions and, in short, any institution committed to research in the humanistic and cultural disciplines (history, archaeology, art, geography, anthropology and religion, philology and literature, philosophy, sociology, among others).

Pre-course requirements

To have studied the course ‘Research Project I’.

Objectives

At the end of the course students should be able to:

- Know what a research project is and what its conceptual and structural characteristics are, whether it is a personal project or team research.

- Know how to effectively manage documentary and bibliographic sources, a key element in all rigorous and reliable research work.

- Present a formally and methodologically rigorous, well-structured and well-conceived research project, containing hypotheses, field work and analysis of results.

  • E24 - Ability to present the results of research project in accordance with the standards of each subject area.
  • E26 - Ability to read and write texts in one's own language and other languages, as well as transcribe, summarise and categorise pertinent information.

  • E28 - Ability to organise complex cultural information coherently.
  • E30 - Ability to define cultural research topics which can contribute to the improvement and innovation of society.

Learning outcomes

-The student writes research reports.

-The student prepares a research project.

-The student selects and summarises specific documentation.

-The student connects concepts of diverse subjects and works them in a transverse way.

Syllabus

The student must carry out his/her Final Degree Thesis under the supervision of his/her tutor, based on the research project written in Research I and approved by the Faculty Board.

Evaluation systems and criteria

The final grade of the Final Degree Thesis is established according to the following criteria: 50% evaluation by the Thesis tutor and also of the Thesis drafting process (as recorded in the minutes of the follow-up meetings) and 50% grade of the public presentation, awarded by the examining board.
