The subject of Labour Law course provides students with a combination of legal content and competences appropriate to the professional profiles to which this Master’s Degree course is directed.
The fundamental objective of this subject is that students acquire the necessary ability to apply labour law regulations in cases and problems that arise from labour relations.
- CA01 - Possess, understand and develop skills that make it possible to apply the specialist academic knowledge acquired during the degree course to the changing situations faced by lawyers, in order to avoid situations of damage, risk or conflict in respect of the interests represented or in the exercise of professional duties in the courts or before the public authorities, or when performing in a consultancy role.
- CA04 - Know the different techniques for reconciling conflicting interests and how to find solutions to problems through methods other than the jurisdictional route.
- CA08 - Know how to identify the key requirements for the provision and organisation of legal consultancy.
- CA10 - Develop skills and abilities to choose the correct strategy for defending the rights of clients, taking into account the demands of the different areas of professional practice.

Students will learn how to:
- Recognise the main subject areas of labour law consultancy.
- Apply the basic principles of labour law consulting, and identify the main precedent-setting cases in this field.
- Master the production of the main extrajudicial legal documents (contractual and others) relating to the field of labour law.
- Write reports and give expert opinions in the interest of clients or the Public Administration in strictly substantive aspects of the field of labour law.
• Labour law, contracts and working conditions.
• Labour law, collective labor relations and conflicts
• Labour law,modification and termination of the employment relationship (extrajudicial aspects).
• Labour law, subcontracting, assignment of workers and transmission of companies and productive units.
• Social Security Law.
Teaching and learning activities
The University Master's Degree in Advocacy bases its methodology on the "case method" which consists in studying real-life scenarios and problems that law firms deal with. Students prepare and analyse cases, identify issues and, once in class together with the teacher, either individually or in groups, look for solutions and share the possible alternatives available.
Our intention with the case method is to help students acquire the main skills of a good legal professional such as logical reasoning, ease of oral expression and language proficiency, among others.
The module on Labour Law Consultancy consists of 3 ECTS of which 30 hours are teaching and then a minimum of 40 hours work by each student on which they will be assessed.
Evaluation systems and criteria
The evaluation consists of two parameters:
• Participation in class: Accounts for 60% of the final mark.
• Written examination based on a case study: Accounts for 40% of the final mark.
Bibliography and resources
Students must use the legislation and jurisprudential doctrine applicable to each set of circumstances and which is referenced in each case. The legislation most used is the Statute of Workers’ Rights and the General Law on Social Security but, given the disperse regulatory nature of this field, it is necessary to have access to other sources.
It is also advisable to consult a manual on Employment Law and Social Security Law.
