Pre-course requirements
The student should:
- Successfully completed all subjects in the first and second years of Masters in Periodontology and IMOS
- Comprehensively understand basic principles both theoretical and clinical in oral implantology
- Understand and correctly use scientific english
Objectives
- Acquire further current knowledge on everything related to periodontology and implants
- Learn new surgical techniques
- Be critical with recently published scientific articles
Competencies
Students should read, understand and synthesize selected scientific articles related to oral implatology. Students should present and defend each article during seminars.
Learning outcomes
The student will learn on current implantology as well as acquire critical thinking for the analysis of scientific literature.
Syllabus
Articles are selected with regards to immediate implants, long-term survival and success rates of implants, mucogingival therapy around implants, biological complications of implants, alveolar ridge preservation and other surgical techniques for boen regeenration around dental implants and short and narrow implants
Teaching and learning activities
In person
Articles are presented during 10-15 minutes by each student. A scientific discussion takes places following every presentation. After completing each topic, students are evaluated with a written exam.
Evaluation systems and criteria
In person
70% of the grade is based on the written exams. 30% is based on the quality of the presentations, the participation during discussion and the attendance.
