Introduction
Dental prostheses or prosthodontics is that part of dentistry that deals with the modification of pathological and natural teeth restoration of missing teeth and the prevention of future diseases.
This subject will address the study of Fixed Prostheses, which explain the different types of treatments that involve fixed prosthesis and how they should perform the dental preparations for getting good functional and aesthetic results.
Pre-course requirements
Oral and dental anatomy. Knowledge of the pathophysiology of patients partially dentate or dentate. Knowledge of the anatomy and function of dental structures. Knowledge of conducting a medical and dental history.
Objectives
The aim of this subject is to enable students acquire the basic knowledge and skills in relation to different types of restorations involving the fixed prosthesis and mixed prosthesis and the preparations to be carried out to achieve good results.
Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme
- 65 - Diagnosing, planning and undertaking, at a general level, multidisciplinary, sequential and integrated treatment of limited complexity for patients of all ages and conditions and patients with special needs (diabetes, hypertension, oncological diseases, transplants, immune-depression, anti-clotting, etc.) or disabilities. Specifically the dentist should be competent in establishing a diagnosis, a prognosis and developing a suitable treatment plan, particularly in terms of orofacial pain, temporo-mandibular disorders, bruxism and other parafunctions; dental and periapical pathology; oral and dental trauma; periodontal and peri-implanted tissue pathologies; pathology of the mandibular bone, of soft oral tissue and annex glands; states of partial or total edentation and planning rehabilitation treatment via dento-muco supported prostheses, or dental impants, dental malpositions or malocculusions and other anatomical or functional alterations of the face or the stomatognathic system and their potential orthodontic, orthopaedic or surgical corrections

- 82 - Designing, preparing teeth, prescribing, recording, doing clinical tests, fitting and putting indirect restorations into service: incrustations, veneers or aesthetic laminate veneers and unitary crowns

THEORY TEST:
Consist of fifty short questions, multiple choice. Each correct response is evaluated with 1 point. To pass the test you must obtain a minimum score of 25 points.
PRE-CLINIC PRACTICES: 25%
Will be evaluated each of their practices in response to the acquisition and application of knowledge, skills and attitudes (including timeliness). Attendance at practices is mandatory.
At the end of practice will be a practical assessment.
CLINICAL PRACTICE: 15%
Will be evaluated each of their practices in response to the acquisition and application of knowledge, skills and attitudes (including timeliness). Attendance at practices is mandatory.
At the end of practice will be a practical assessment.
The evaluation will be according to the following percentages:

To pass the course must pass the theory, practice and written work separately. Once passed, the percentages were applied individually referred.
The possibility of an oral examination in cases of particular hardship student, upon acceptance of the situation by the teacher and academic secretariat was contemplated.
