Grants and funding: Parla 3

The Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR), through the Parla3 programme, provides funding for students who began a bachelor’s degree at a Catalan university for the first time during or after the 2014-2015 academic year and have certified a A2, B1, B2.1 or B2.2 level of language competence under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) through courses offered by the Catalan universities.

There are three types of grants available:

Type A: CLUC B2 English Exam

AGAUR provides grants to help cover the cost of registration for the common language proficiency certificate offered by Catalan Universities (CLUC) for students who began a bachelor’s degree at a Catalan university for the first time during or after the 2014-2015 academic year and who have taken and passed the exam at a B2 level of knowledge (taken as B2.2) under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

  • Maximum amount that can be awarded: €50
  • The accreditation exams must have taken place within the period between 1 September and 31 July.
  • Application period: 15 March to 30 September.

Type B: B2-level or B2.1 or B2.2-sublevel third language courses

This grant is available to any students who enrol in and successfully complete a level A2 or B1 or B2.1 or B2.2-sublevel or B2-level language course at UIC Barcelona during the year of the call. In the latter case, to successfully complete the course and earn an official certificate, students are required to pass a final exam in which they are assessed in all four areas of language knowledge (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

  • Maximum amount that can be awarded: €350
  • The language course and completed passing grade in a third language must be obtained within the period between 1 September and 31 July.
  • Application period: 15 March to 30 September.

Category C: B2 courses or partial B2.1 or B2.2 courses in a third language for students that have a general grant for post compulsory education or an Equity grant

Grants for students that have begun bachelor’s degree courses for the first time from the 2014-2015 academic year onwards that are enrolled in a course for a third language at A2 or B1, or partial B2.1 or B2.2 CEFR level that have a general grant for post compulsory education or an Equity grant during the coincident academic year with the call.

  • The maximum amount that can be awarded for a level or partial level (B2.1 y B2.2), is €350, which will be paid to the student once the call is closed.
  • The language course and completed passing grade in a third language must be obtained within the period between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022.
  • Application period: 15 March to 30 September 2022

New! New Category C call 22/23: A2 and B1 courses or B2.1 and B2.2 partial courses in a third language for students that have a general grant for post compulsory education or an Equity grant.

  • Maximum amount that can be awarded: €600
  • The language course and completed passing grade in a third language must be obtained within the period between 1 September 2022 and 31 July 2023.
  • Application period:
    •  First partial resolution: Between 6 October 2022 and 28 October 2022
    • Second partial resolution: Between 1 January 2023 and 31 January 2023
    • Third partial resolution: Between 1 March 2023 and 15 April 2023
    • Fourth partial resolution: Between 1 June 2023 and 30 June 2023
