Introduction

The lectures aim to give the student of surgery a broad agenda for the field of oral surgery from tooth extraction to include the diagnosis and treatment of oral disease.

Pre-course requirements

Students must be graduates with basic knowledge odonotologia oral surgery.

Objectives

To offer students a solid criterion when the diagnosis, treatment and complications of solving various diseases that can be found in the oral cavity

35 - Understand the scientific principles of sterilization , disinfection and antisepsis necessary to prevent cross- infection in dental practice

48 - Understand the effects of smoking on oral health and participate in measures to help the patient to want to stop smoking . Also, knowing the complex interactions between environmental factors , social and behavioral health with oral and general

74 - Prepare and isolate the operative field

78 - Perform simple surgical procedures : extraction of erupted permanent teeth and roots and fractured or retained surgical removal of teeth not erupted uncomplicated and simple procedures for pre- prosthetic surgery

10 - Understand and identify the psychological and physical problems resulting from domestic violence to enable students on prevention, early detection , care, and rehabilitation of the victims of this form of violence

24 - Recognize hazardous situations and know how vital basic life support maneuvers

43 - Know the dental biomaterials : their handling properties , indications, allergies, biocompatibility and toxicity of waste disposal and environmental impact

44 - Understanding and using basic equipment and instrumentation for dental practice

56 - Identify the signs and attitudes that suggest the possible existence of abuse

57 - Understand the general processes of getting sick , heal and repair, including infection , inflammation , bleeding and clotting , scarring , trauma and disorders of the immune system , degeneration , neoplasia , metabolic disorders and genetic disorders

70 - Assess sensory and motor function of the mouth, jaws and annexes
