Continguts

How to deal with an online subject?

If this is your first experience with an online course, do not worry. You will see that we will try to simulate a similar ambiance close to a  physical classroom.

Our aim is that you can feel very close to all the benefits you can get when you attend to an ordinary class.

First of all, let me explain some of the rules I will follow to achieve an interactive subject.

1.- WRITTEN STATEMENTS & MATERIALS. You have all the items you need in the main screen of the subject (Topics, methods, schedule & key dates, teacher's contact and teaching materials and even assessment procedures).

VIP I will "open" for displaying all the topics as we are advancing with the contents according to the agenda.

If you have any question or comment, please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail aparada@uic.es

2.- CONTINUOUS GUIDE & COMMUNICATION: I will post regular messages trying to promote your participation and pointing out which are the most relevant aspect that you need to learn.

This will help you to follow the flow of proposals regarding the follow up of the different topics and exercises.

On the other hand,  I will daily check my e-mail account. My intention is to answer all your questions no longer than 48 hours. If I need to be absent for more than 48 hours, I will previously warn it to you.

I appreciate your questions, answers and comments will be very helpful to me. They will provide me with feed back.

3.- SCHEDULE & AGENDA. I will try to follow the posted dates, so every time that we "start" or "finish" a new topic I will send a message to all of you.

4.- WORKING AS STUDENT  I recommend you to follow frequently the subject and check your e-mail. I will send you some recommendations and I will propose you new information resources or potential activities.

5.- MANDATORY ACTIVITIES Do not worry because all the "mandatory" exercises will be announced days before we start it. Three (3) partial mandatarory activites are scheduled.

6.- EXAM & FINAL QUALIFICATIONS Your final qualification will depend on the addition of 3 mandatory exercises related to the modules (10% of the qualification each one with a maximum o 40%) and the qualification of a final exam (with a maximum of 60% of the whole qualification).

7.- LEARNING ONLINE HAVE LOT OF ADVANTAGES  I will hightlight that you have the decision power about how to confront the subject. You can follow the subject according to your own rythm.

Another intersting advantage is that all my explanations, questions or comments will be permanent posted in the FORUM. You will also receive an e-mail with them. It means that if you can not access to the class for several days you will be able to check all the messages and statements.

However, I do not recommend you to "disconnect" for long a time because it will force you to do a great effort to update your knowledge on this subject.
