Introduction

Realization of clinical practices, on a patient, under the supervision of a teacher of the discipline. In order to participate in them, the student must have previously exceeded the minimum objectives of theory and laboratory practices. The transition to clinical practices will be individualized, based on the skills demonstrated in preclinical practices by each student in particular.

Objectives

The main objective is to perform the largest number of clinical cases in the facilities of the CUO and in the centers of external practices concerted, including: endodontic treatments, retreatments and dental traumatisms. The student must document with X-rays, photographs and videos the cases made. The cases will be reviewed in the clinical sessions by the subject's teaching staff. The student must be able, under the supervision of the teacher, to diagnose and perform the appropriate duct treatment at all times.

Competences / Learning outcomes of the degree programme

Be able to treat a patient with dental trauma. Be able to work as a team with specialists from other areas. Acquire the ability to perform cases of endodontics of low, moderate and high difficulty. Be able to diagnose teeth with pulpal-periapical pathology and perform a differential diagnosis

Learning outcomes of the subject


- Understand and be able to perform advanced endodontic procedures such as removal of instruments, sealing of perforations, revascularization treatments, correct treatments in Traumatology, instrumentation of cases with double cure and handling of calcified ducts. In addition to mastering the different sealing techniques, both lateral and thermoplastic. - Be able to document the cases, take pictures of the teeth and videos of the treatments performed in the private clinic. - Present in a clinical session (always in sequential order) a case chosen by the assigned professor, either by difficulty, by resolution or by diagnostic interest.

Teaching and learning activities

In person

The student will come at least one week per quarter to work on patients at the university clinic. Each week will have to submit at least five cases to his or her tutor who will evaluate and advise on each case.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person

The evaluation of this subject will be carried out via continuous assessment. The student must submit the exercises, case studies, and projects carried out during the clinical practices to the teacher for evaluation.
Students must have finalised a certain number of endodontic treatments, at the discretion of the head of the master’s degree course (approximately 200 finished cases).

Bibliography and resources

The bibliography used in each case presentation will be based on the literature previously reviwed in the seminars. the student will have to give a deeper view on the subject using new articles related on the choosen issue.
