This course will take place during the two years of the training program of the master.

Competences / Learning outcomes of the degree programme

  • CE1 - Students should be able to undertake a proper analysis and an extraoral diagnosis, and underline the aesthetic and functional aspects of the teeth and the soft areas of the lower part of the face as well as a analysis and clinical and lab-based diagnosis, using diagnostic and therapeutic wax models, in order to rehabilitate dental occlusion with good functional and aesthetic balance, while taking into account multidisciplinary factors related to the masticating apparatus.
  • CE5 - To be able to give public presentations on your own clinical cases based on the scientific literature, and correctly use the scientific terminology related to temporomandibular dysfunction and aesthetic restorative dentistry.
  • CE9 - To recognise and interpret images and specialised diagnostic techniques that are significant in research, as well as know how to apply bioinformatic tools and new technologies to the fields of prosthetic and restorative dentistry and dental implants.
  • CG1 - To have the ability to communicate with patients with the aim of explaining, based on scientific criteria but in accessible language, their diagnosis, treatment plan and prognosis, in the case of pathologies that tend to be either advanced or multidisciplinary in nature.
  • CG2 - To be autonomous in terms of obtaining a patient's anamnesis and oral explorations in patients with pathologies that might be either advanced or multidisciplinary in nature; and fill in their medical record and other clinical paperwork using scientific language and terminology that is suited to an aesthetic restorative dentistry professional.
  • CG3 - To know how to apply the protocols established in the University Dental Clinic in relation to diagnosis, complementary explorations and treatment for patients, as well as treatment plans, taking into account the fact that the patients being addressed have pathologies that are either advanced or multidisciplinary in nature.

Learning outcomes of the subject

- The student is able to correctly use scientific terminology related to temporomandibular dysfunction and aesthetic restorative dentistry, making a correct analysis and diagnosis extraoral lower third of the face of patients, highlighting the aesthetic and functional aspects of the teeth and soft tissue mouth in this analysis. Also known scan and make a correct diagnosis of the masticatory system intraoral patients.

- Students are able to identify and reproduce the criteria macroestética and dental microestética, also in the hard and soft tissues of the mouth.

- The student is able to make public presentations on clinical cases, with all diagnostic details and required additional examinations, making plans proposed in the literature referenced treatments.

- Pupils have a clear and advanced knowledge on concepts such as osseointegration, passive adaptation, torque, implant connection surface of the implant, prosthetic abutment type, types of prints to make, transfer of functional and aesthetic occlusal parameters ... Also chosen, personalized for each patient, implantology different hardware and perform various checks and tests of prosthetic components during preparation of the oral prosthesis, getting control that process at all times so that the finished prosthesis stomatology meet marked functional and aesthetic goals initially.

- The student has scientific knowledge to choose the type of material that rehabilitation installed in the patient is ready made.

Students have the tools to keep your current continuing education. They must know how to adapt their practice and technological advances and the changes that occur throughout his professional life, which can be autonomous and self-directed teams.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person

The evaluation of this matter will be made by different procedures. Continuous assessment is the basic principle to achieve. To do different grades will be obtained over two academic years, their training activities.

In the training activity MC (Case method for the analysis and resolution of clinical cases) evaluations will be conducted from the direct and personal involvement in the development of this activity (knowledge of its agenda patients, order and proper use of documentation clinic, contributions and assistance to fellow ...). Scientific, technical and medical knowledge related to the patient's pathology (using appropriate scientific terminology, the ability to solve problems in diagnostic or therapeutic phases that may not completely defined, proper analysis of the data will be evaluated the history, application and interpretation of tests appropriate complementary exploration ...); and how the presentation of MC (communication skills, oral and body language, use of bibliographic databases and computing resources ...). The presentations of clinical cases will be performed in computer files (type "Microsoft Office PowerPoint Presentation") and will be part of clinical documentation of each patient (case properly according to laws protecting patient data) may be consulted at any time by the responsible faculty.
In SEM training activities (seminars) evaluations will be conducted from the direct and personal involvement in the development of this activity valuing their ability to synthesis and troubleshooting in situations that can not be entirely predictable. The methodology underlying the reviews of scientific papers presented are made will also be assessed by the / the teacher / she is responsible / s of the training. These revisions being made in computer files (type "Microsoft Office PowerPoint Presentation") and faculty will be responsible for the documentation provided. Written tests (exams) will be conducted to evaluate the theoretical knowledge learned in the course of the SEM.
