Introduction

 

The Adult Care I course aims to provide the tools to schedule and perform nursing activities aimed at the prevention of respiratory, cardiovascular, hematologic and gastrointestinal in the adult. Furthermore, with this matter, it will enable the student to perform holistic care to the person suffering from acute or chronic condition of the above systems.

This course will also provide an introduction to chronicity and how to face the challenges posed by the current situation.

Pre-course requirements

Not required. Although successfully to study the subject, it is important to review the knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology of the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive and hematological.

Objectives

1. Students will develop cognitive, psychomotor and relationships that enable them to provide adequate nursing care, promoting autonomy and maintenance of health, disease prevention and wellness of the patient, family and community
2. Knowing the most common diseases of the following systems: respiratory, cardiovascular, hematologic and gastrointestinal, taking into account the incidence and prevalence data of our geographical and social context
3. Integrating specific knowledge of health and disease based on the holistic concept of the person

4. Develop care plans based on the Nursing Care Process.

 

Competences / Learning outcomes of the degree programme

  • 1. G - Ability to provide technical and professional health care appropriate to the health needs of the people they treat, with full technical and scientific autonomy, according to current and available scientific knowledge and to the quality standards and safety requirements set forth in the applicable legal standards and code of ethics.
  • 2. E - Plan and provide nursing care for individuals or groups, taking health outcomes into account and their impact, through guidelines for clinical practice and care, which describe the four processes by which a health problem is diagnosed or treated.
  • 11. E - Establish effective communication with patients, families, social groups and partners and promote health education.
  • 12. B - Know and observe the ethical code of conduct of Spanish nursing, understanding the ethical implications of health in a changing global context.

  • 7. B - Understand people without prejudice, considering their physical, psychological and social aspects, as autonomous and independent individuals, ensuring respect for their opinions, beliefs and values, ensuring their right to privacy through confidentiality and professional secrecy.
  • 8. B - Promote and respect the right of participation, information, autonomy and informed consent in decision-making of people treated, according to the way they live their health - disease process..
  • 6. E - Base nursing care on scientific evidence and available resources.

Learning outcomes of the subject

 

At the end of the field of Adult Care I, students will be able to:


1. Apply teaching methods to promote healthy behaviors of individuals, families and communities.
2. Develop intervention programs.
3. Knowing the basic methodology of health education in order to develop intervention programs and community involvement.
4. Knowing the measures primary and secondary prevention aimed at adults.
5. Run a program of intervention.
6. Learn specific techniques to support nursing cures in respiratory diseases, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and hematopoietic.
7. Apply P. A. E. to patients with specific diseases of the respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and haematopoietic tissues.
8. Know the possible complications.
9. Introduce measures to prevent complications.

10. Know the main diagnostic tests for image and applied analytical particularly care to patients respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and hematologic.

Chapter 1 NURSING CARE TO CHRONIC DISEASE
      1.1 Overview of the chronicity and the challenges.

Chapter 2 INTEGRAL CARE PEOPLE WITH RESPIRATORY DISEASE
      2.1  Nursing Care to the person of acute respiratory pathology.
      2.2  Prevention, health promotion and monitoring from Primary Health Care, the person who has a respiratory disease.

Chapter 3 INTEGRAL CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
      3.1 Nursing care to the person of acute cardiovascular pathology.
      3.2  Prevention, health promotion and monitoring from Primary Health Care, the person who has a cardiovascular disease.

Chapter 4 INTEGRAL CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH DIGESTIVE PATHOLOGY
      4.1  Nursing care to the person of acute gastrointestinal disease.
      4.2  Prevention, health promotion and monitoring from Primary Health Care, the person has a digestive pathology.

Chapter 5  INTEGRAL CARE FOR THE PERSON WITH HEMATOLOGIC PATHOLOGY
      5.1  Nursing care to the person of acute hematological pathology.
      5.2  Prevention, health promotion and monitoring from Primary Health Care, the person who has a hematological disorder.

Teaching and learning activities

In person

 

The course is developed through theoretical sessions (lectures), practical sessions, guided and self-learning. The content of the lectures will be the development of the main themes and concepts of the subject detailed in the syllabus. As regards the practical sessions, we will use the case method, group discussions, role-playing and analysis of texts, among others. In addition, questionnaires will be made along the course to facilitate student self-assessment and self-regulation.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person

The matter will be evaluated during the semester through continuous assessment, written work and a final exam.
Ongoing assessments have: class participation, case development, questionnaires and exercises work through ICT, and so on.

Relative weight of each instance of evaluation in the overall evaluation
• Participation in discussion groups, exercises and development of cases, background questionnaires, questionnaires of each subject 20%
• Written work: case 30%
• Evaluation of group work 10%
• Final exam 40%.
To make half of all assessment methods will have to get at least a 4.5 in the final exam.

- Segunda convocatoria: para la 2ª convocatoria se realizará un examen y se mantendrán las notas de la evaluación continuada. La nota definitiva de la asignatura en esta convocatoria será el resultado de aplicar los promedios de la asignatura.

- Siguientes convocatorias: antes de matricularse nuevamente en la asignatura se debe mirar la compatibilidad con el resto de asignaturas.

- Para las 3ª, 4ª convocatoria y siguientes, si se conceden, se aplicarán los mismos criterios que para la 1ª y 2ª.
