The subject of New Nursing Roles, is a new course aimed at 4th year students. Thanks to its original content, the student will contact an emerging perspective about the work of nursing professionals in the various fields in which nursing is becoming leader. The leadership of nurses in emerging roles opens up new possibilities for professional development and visibility of nursing work while opening new fields of employment.

Objectives

  1. Introduce students to emerging nursing roles
  2. Delve into the importance of nursing leadership in managing population health care
  3. Familiarize students with new areas of professional development

Competences / Learning outcomes of the degree programme

  • 27. G - Ability to adapt to new situations.
  • 28. E - Leadership in nursing care and in nursing teams to improve quality care for people, participation in health policy and professional development.
  • 2. E - Plan and provide nursing care for individuals or groups, taking health outcomes into account and their impact, through guidelines for clinical practice and care, which describe the four processes by which a health problem is diagnosed or treated.
  • 5. G - Design systems of care programed for people or groups, assessing their impact and making necessary modifications.
  • 6. E - Base nursing care on scientific evidence and available resources.
  • 7. B - Understand people without prejudice, considering their physical, psychological and social aspects, as autonomous and independent individuals, ensuring respect for their opinions, beliefs and values, ensuring their right to privacy through confidentiality and professional secrecy.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person

  • Paper work (40%). The student will provide evidence of acquired knowledge and reflection carried out about the contents of the subject. The student will have guide notes to do complete this assessment form. Student will evaluate the following competences: 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 14, 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 28.
  • Multiple-choice exam (60%).  The speakers of each of unit will do a shared exam to evaluate the student's knowledge about the contents exposed. Evaluated skills: 2, 7, 9, 12, 13 and 17

Honors will not be awarded in the first resit.
