The aging population in developed countries has led to major changes in health policies adopted by different governments. Coinciding with the increased life expectancy, are also generated increased demand for health care increase, while the quality of life in this life stage.
Because of the physiological and psychological changes that causes the prolongation of life, the care required by this population, have unique characteristics that require professional specifically trained to address health problems specific to older people. It is therefore necessary to train nurses who, despite being generalists, they can handle geriatric care and in dealing with the complexity of the needs that have this age group and their families in situation of worsening chronic health problems.
Interdisciplinary approach to the old man in critical condition, is a subject which continues, in the 4th year of Grado, the subject of Care for the Elderly, taught in Year 3 of the degree in Nursing. It focuses on elderly care from a clinical perspective, holistic, interdisciplinary care deeply into the geriatric patient in critical condition. Offers also an anthropological vision and
social aging that promotes understanding of the experience of illness and dependency in the elderly and their impact on family life. On the other hand, addresses the emotional management, essential for self-care nurses who care wing elderly and their families.

3. Nursing care in acute: Fragility of acute geriatric patients, respiratory infection, dehydration, elderly patients with cardiac ischemia, trauma in the geriatric patient, vascular dementia, Psychogeriatrics.
4. Caring for the older person's autonomy (Acute and social health)
5. Caring for the Caregiver Home. Programs and Nursing Care Plans (Health and Community Partner)
6. Rehabilitation of ADL's in the older person. Occupational Therapy. Physical Therapy (Socio and Community)
