English for Nursing II is a subject that introduces and discusses the current problems in public health from a nursing perspective. It will also help students to develop the critical capacity necessary to meet the changing health needs. This course shows health problems affecting morbidity and mortality in different geographic realities. And it will help to improve the chances of seeking employment both locally and internationally. Students will learn the existence of different health systems and how they affect the people's health.   There will also be discussed those current problems that might be addressed through strategies of health promotion and disease prevention. Finally, there will be exposed the various possibilities in which nurses can work abroad and research about international public health issues. This subject will be taught in English.

1. • To understand the concepts of globalization and global health, and the role of nursing profession in that context.
   • To critically analyse global health problems from a nursing perspective
   • To debate the future challenges in the field of nursing locally, nationally and internationally.
   • To learn basic epidemiology and health policy in the field of global health
   • To recognize the social role of nurses in health policy and mass media.
   • To critically analyse settings and paths in which nurses can work abroad
   • To understand the challenges and opportunities of practising the nurse profession beyond borders
   • To exchange experiences from nurses who have studied nursing and / or participated in or developed projects outside Spain.

Methods used include:

• Lectures
• Individual work: readings and exercises
• Group work in class
• Brainstorming seminars
• Discussion in class
• Journal club
• Role play

Personal work at home is required. Students need to read given material before class. Teamwork and discussion of the lectures and readings will occupy between 30 to 50% of the total time of the class. Students must participate in class and in seminars, discussing and debating the proposed topics.

Evaluation:

• The course evaluation will be made with a minimum score of 50 over 100 in each of the 3 evaluation processes:
• Attendance, participation and problem solving (40%).
• Homework (20%)
• Pre-test (0%)
• Exam (40%)

En caso de suspender la asignatura en 1a convocatoria, se podrá recuperar en 2a convocatoria los elementos suspendidos de :

• Homework (20%)
• Exam (40%)

No se concederán Matrículas de Honor en 2ª convocatoria.

LA ACTIVIDAD RCP PEDIÁTRICA, es una actividad transversal que se imputa en esta asignatura. Está formada por una clase teórocia y un taller en laboratorios de simulación. Se evaluará la asistencia y participación. En caso de no asisitir ae descontarán 0'5 puntos de la EVALUACIÓN CONTINUADA ( asistencia y participación en sesiones y resolución de problemas)
