3.-Come to class with laptop/tablet +a pen for some hand-written exercises +hearphones

4.-Respect silence and classmates’performance.

5.-Sessions are in English. If any problem, ask the teacher.

 

Introduction

About this subject:

  • The teacher conducts basic ideas which put into practice through exercises and reinforced with some supporting files that summarize what you need to know.
  • The exercises are repeated constantly and the level of demand will crescendo. Everything is a progressive training.
  • All sessions are fully taught using the English language. The teacher provides synonims or short translations if required
  • Students are asked to be always provided of pendrive, headphones, laptop or tablet.

The PEA(II) subject's main objective is to train students so you can develop your future professional work in a company where the common language is English.

Learning outcomes of the subject

  • Develop persuasive speeches.
  • Improvise verbal statements.
  • Argument and counterargument in discussions.
  • Learn to represent an organization in exercising the role of the spokesperson, especially in emergency situations.

Syllabus

  1. Techniques and exercises to better express orally. Emphasis on breathing techniques. How to improve diction.
  2. The art of summarizing: deconstruction, keywords and prioritization of ideas + development of the internal clock.
  3. Resources for attention and convincing an audience. The non-verbal languaje.
  4. Techniques to speak to a radio microphone and a TV camera.
  5. Techniques for making speeches. Improvisation techniques.
  6. Analysis of models of social and political oratory.
  7. How convincing gatherings and conferences. Making the role of presenter/moderator.
  8. Techniques for generating ideas and improve our messages.
  9. Spokesman techniques: the statement, interview and press conference.
  10. The spokesman in crisis situations.

TRAINING ACTIVITYECTS CREDITS
Seminar. This activity will consist of taking an in-depth look at specific up-to-date topics in a monographic manner-in some cases these topics will have been debated socially-, via active work in small groups.0.6
Lectures. In lectures, lecturers/professors not only transmit content or knowledge, but also, and above all else, attitudes, motivation, skills and values, etc. They also ensure that participants can express their opinions and arguments to the other students.1.2
Practical workshop. A highly practical working activity, where students can acquire skills that are practical or also theoretical (intellectual skills, logical skills, critical skills, intellectual learning skills, study skills, quoting skills, etc).1.4
Focused Praxis. Handing in occasional exercises to learn theory through practice.1

ASSESSMENT

 

There are two partial exams which are rated 25 and 25%. 50% corresponds to a 90 second speech in front of the teacher.

Attendance is voluntary.

 For the second and subsequent calls, it will be necessary to repeat the exam of the failed section (written exam, speech or both).
